Primal Blueprint Recipes to Make Your Mouth Water

One truly unique aspect of the Primal Blueprint Diet is that even though it requires a shift in the major food groups eaten it does not limit the number of calories you consume in any given day. Weight loss is not achieved by restricting the number of calories consumed, but rather through choosing nutritious, healthy, and power foods that will keep you full longer.

The most common theme of this diet consists of the fact is based on evolutionary biology. Genetically, our bodies are equipped and designed to handle the foods that our ancestors ate. The earliest humans, the hunter gatherers, existed on a lean meats, seafood, fish, fruits, vegetables, and other roots crops, nuts, as well as seeds. Human genes evolve extremely slowly and still do best on these basic core foods that we started eating thousands and thousand of years ago. This is the very diet that was ideal to stay strong, healthy, and vital, to ensure survival.

Of course foods that weren’t readily available during those times must be avoided. These include, grains and closely related foods, sugar, most dairy products, legumes, and all processed foods. Fortunately finding recipes that you can use to make the most of this caveman diet is very easy. I have provided a few examples:

A delicious primal recipe for Steak with Peppercorns and Purple Basil and a side of Heirloom Tomato Salad. This makes approximately 2-4 servings. To prepare, you need a 1 1/2 to 2 pound steak, one handful rough chopped purple basil, two pounds of of tomatoes (wedge slices), one tablespoon of peppercorns, one teaspoon each salt and rice vinegar, two tablespoons sesame and olive oil and 1/2 teaspoon of tamari. Start by grinding or mashing the peppercorns into the salt. Whisk half a teaspoon of the mix with the rice vinegar, tamari, olive oil, and a tablespoon of sesame oil. This serves as the salad dressing. Rub the remaining mix onto your steaks almost as a marinade. Allow the seasoning to sit on the meat until thoroughly soaked, cook the steaks over an open flame to your desired temperature. Then drizzle the salad dressing over the tomatoes as well as over the purple basil, and serve with the delicious steaks.
